Trogan Horse

by esand - 1/15/06 4:36 PM

Can anyone tell me what TR/Drop.VB.CD.6 does? My virus scanner says it has infected the file FS36.CAB in my system restore file, Unfortunetly my scanner also says it cannot repair or delete this file, I have done an internet search and found very few sites with any information. I have restored my system a few times but the CAB file remains affected, What can I do to repair/delete this file and remove the trogan?

Thanks

1. Research such with google.com

2. I find the online virus scanners such as HOUSECALL (hint: google.com) can remove most trojans.

About trojans in general. (Also a fix for the .CAB file)

For some trojans, you can't tell what they do since they are remotely controlled by "somebody." As somebody is in control, what they do can't be foretold.

Sorry but I missed an item so here's how to fix the infected cab file.

1. DISABLE SYSTEM SYSTEM.

Since how to do that is in start, help and support and google.com, I won't tell how.

2. Run your virus scan and remove it again.

3. ENABLE SYSTEM RESTORE.

Thanks for the info, I guess thats why there was no info when I goggled the trogan. I followed your suggestion and turned off system restore, did a scan, turned it back on, did another scan...happy to say it came up clean! However now my cpu is working like crazy! ProcessExplorer says MSGSRV32.exe is using up to 98% of my cpu every few moments, Kernel32.DLL crash on me while typing this message...What is going on??

About that...

It could be a damaged OS or ... you have Office installed and it's doing its indexing or... a new restore point is being made.

Given the age of the OS it's likely the CPU heatsink or fan needs cleaning. That's the most common reason I find machines to bluescreen/reboot outside of pests.
