Wireless music transmission

by constantine.gr - 1/14/06 2:10 AM

Do you know if there is a way to send music wirelessly from a laptop to a stereo but NOT only from one application? Apple's airport express, to the best of my knowledge, works only with i-tunes. Some wireless DAR's work only with WMP or their own media players. What I have in mind is something like the airport express that has the ability to wirelessly transmit everything that comes out of the pc's audio card. How about that new wireless usb hub that Belkin (I think) unveiled at CES? Would it be possible to connect an external usb audio card to the usb hub and the stereo to the audio card? Does that make any sense?
Thanks in advance.

Did you get something to work?

I read your post and was wanting the same thing, have you got it up and running?

I think that the Apple AirPort will actually work with other music apps. I have MediaMonkey and a member of the forum there said he set up a working wireless music system with MediaMonkey and AirPort express.

If you've got something working please shoot me a line because I'm kinda in the dark about this. More about the computer end of things, I don't have anything wireless on my desktop and no PCI card to accomodate. I also have dial-up, so no router.

How to go about this?

It seems difficult to get anybody to respond, is it that difficult? Or maybe bothersome.
