Hello. I have an HP a1010N pc, 3 months old, with the following:
340 Intel Celeron D Processor
512 PC2700 DDR SRRAM Memory
160 GB 7200RPM Ultra DMA Hard Drive
DVD+- Writer/CD Writer and CD Rom
I was printing something off the internet and the third time I tried to print something, it wouldn't. It's just sitting there saying "printing" but it's not. Then I tried canceling it, and it says that it's "deleting" the document but it's still sitting there. I went to the properties and the priority setting was down to 1, I moved it up to 99 and it's till not printing.
This is not the first time it does that. Every now and then it just doesn't want to print for no apparent reason. This is a brand new system and printer and it shouldn't be giving me issues.
Anyone have an idea of what it could be causing this, why is it doing it and how to fix it? I'll appreciate all the help.
Thanks

My other pc, the compaq Presario 5102US used to do that too. It's a printer thing, I don't know why they do that sometimes and I'd like to know why it does that.
Is it dead or does it work "sometimes"?
I could comment more if there were more clues. For instance a friend had problems printing sometimes and we narrowed it down to documents with Corel images. An update from Corel fixed it.
In your case, there are not enough clues and being so new you have a free ticket to get fast dialogue and support.

I have the same printer "hp deskjet 3845".
sometimes it print normally,
other times it donot print at all,
and some times it print a small part of the paper and then stop. notice:it always stop at the same place.
Its a new printer.
I found that when i enter in the printer settings in the "service this device" section, then into "estimated ink level", this message is written
"the computer is unable to establish two way communication with the device".
when the printer luckly works i go to see "estimated ink level" the message dispear and the real estimation of ink level appears.
I changed the usb cable but the problem still exist.
maybe the problem is with the usb derive itself.
I think i have usb 1.
plz if any body can help reply to me quickly .
thanks in advance
That's a little more of a clue, but the host PC is not mentioned. I'll share that too many install this old OS and forget that Microsoft does not install motherboard drivers or much else in the way of up to date drivers.
They leave that to us.
-> Since it's new, why not make it their problem?
They fix it or you send it back.

The printer works on many other pcs.
also works at the pc of the shop i bought from it the printer,so when i go to him he says that the printer is working and there is no problem.
My pc consist of many parts: intel processor
gigabyte motherboard
etc...
Many of the gigabyte motherboards don't use an Intel chipset. If you notice, Microsoft won't install drivers for you.
You may be on the right trail.

I have all the same problems as you guys on the same "sometimes" basis. The only solution I've found is to reboot the PC. It's a real pain, and always happens when I'm printing something I need quickly.
I've wondered if the use of generic ink or generic catridges somehow causes the problem. I also use a USB hub, and I've wondered about that, too. If only the problem would happen all the time, it would be easier to track down the cause.
Just found this on the HP site. It seems to be a consistent problem. Here's their way of solving it:>http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=372330&lang=en&cc=us&docname=npd09305
