Netscape 7.2 Mail

by acampbell - 1/8/06 8:23 PM

I need information about why Netscape 7.2 Mail creates, seemly at whimsy, files called nstmp.

I have a large amount of mail that I am trying to consolidate (800 files in about 9 GB). Much of it is duplicates and much is spam, but in and amongst it are some gems that I need to grab.

About 100 of the files contain this hodge-podge of unsorted mail. The others are in a structure making the rest of it meaningful. All day I have been sorting, keeping some, and deleting much more. I have just compacted my folders and suddenly there are about 25 more folders in about another 1 G. Netscape seems to be creating garbage faster than I can sort & delete it!

How can I avoid this happening?

Also is there a way to keep dpulicate mail messages from existing in a folder? Som option of something. That would help greatly.

I am running WIN XP on a 3.3 MHz machine with 1.5 M memory and 100 G hard drive. Everything is patched up to date.
