none. I use zone alarm, avg free edition,ad-aware se
I rec'd no viruses during the year 2005, which I owe that to good software - AVG software from www.grisoft.com; using the free version. I make sure that I update it often, which sometimes is daily & I really have not had any problems. I also use a firewall which helps - Zone Alarm. I started out with free version & upgraded to Pro version, which I am using now. The combination of both software has really kept my computer free from viruses, trojans, worms. When the computer seems to slow down, I go online to see if there are any viruses slowing it down & I use Panda online scan as well. For spyware removal, I use Adaware, free version, which is very user friendly.
I owe it all to McAfee ASAP.
Norton.
None. Thanks to KAV (Kaspersky Anti-Virus), Kaspersky Anti-Hacker and a several anti-spyware programmes which overlap. Keeping these updated is part of the daily routine. So even though KAV has caught & deleted a couple hiding in emails and software downloads over the past year, nothing has got by the defences. Fingers crossed and definitions updated.
Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that you are taking steps to protect your machine, but listen to your self: "Kaspersky Anti-Virus)", "Kaspersky Anti-Hacker", "several other programs that overlap"...
"Keeping these updated is part of the daily routine. "
I don't think ANYBODY should have to worry about this kind of stuff. Do you?
Look at some of the alternatives...
Linux, Macs...Both have a MUCH less chace of being infected.
I have been running Linux for nearly 4 years on all 5 of my machines. I don't spend any each day worrying about virus definitions...

get some self updating utilities. i have two windows machines connected to dsl that have no problems thanks to my CA antivirus and microsoft antispy and webroot, which self update themselves. save yourself some time and get them.
No secret!
I use a Mac.
Once on my computer and a separate account belonging to my wife we had almost all mail duplicated causing us at least an hour's work to clean up our home mail and the mail on the server. We did not check further but apparently the computer center cleaned it up. Could have been worse but we are trying to keep the mail count low on the server and that was good for this type of infection.
We both have Mac systems and keep up with our virus protection, as well as not opening suspicious mail of which there is a considerable amount.
Macs Still Rule, no viruses here! If I had a computer running XP thn yeah, I'd probably have a bunch of unknown viruses. Since I'm running the Unix based OS X Tiger, I don't have to worry about any worms, horses, or any other animals in the news.
I have a Mac. It has OS X 10.4.3 (TIGER)
In fact I've never had any of these pests sice 1984 when I used my first Mac!
1- I NEVER open any attachment unless I know the sender AND the sender discusses the attachment in the text of the message to assure me that it is legitimate.
2- I use Anonymizer to surf the Web anonymously.
3- Norton Anti-virus checks my e-mail.
4- I turn off the power to my modem when ever I am not activly using the Web.
So, although several e-mails have contained viruses, they were always caught.
Why? because I have many security programs, along with using Opera and Firefox. Here are some of my security programs.
AVG Pro.
Zone Alarm Free.
Ewido Plus.
MSAS.
AdAware SE Custom setting with VX2 Cleaner.
Spybot S & D
SpywareBlaster.
SpywareGuard.
CCleaner
These are just some of what I use.
All are the latest versions fully updated.
WXP Home SP2 Used very seldom, but also fully updated.

I to use a hardware firewall built into my router, anti-virus program, ad-ware programs, and some registry edits to help avoid problems. Some say I'm a bit security crazy, but so far I've avoided the virus and ad-ware problems alot of my friends have. The best security solution I've found so far are from people like Steve Gibson @ GRC.
It's expensive,,, but I've NEVER had anything get by it on any of the SBS networks I use it on. Nuff said.
