I have installed Windows XP on a new computer, and when I start up the computer, before it starts the screen turns blue and at the bottom of the screen is this error. 0X000000ED (0X85F54900,0XC0000185,0X00000000,0X00000000)If anybody could help me I would be greatful.
Was it all there was in the error ? Please share more about the computer's specifications, and...Windows XP...what ?
Hi JK.
According to Inform IT online books - Windows XP Annoyances - Blue screen of death messages:
-----------------------------------------------
{Quote:} Unmountable Boot Volume (stop code 0X000000ED)
This means that Windows was unable to mount the boot volume, which, if you have more than one drive, is the drive containing Windows. This can be caused by using the wrong cable with a high-throughput IDE controller; try an 80-pin cable instead of the standard 40-pin cable. {End quote}.
----------------------------------------
Hope this helps.
