When i first installed itunes, it worked fine. later that day, i installed quicktime, but because it didn't do what i wanted it to, i unintstalled it. since then, itunes hasn't worked. everytime i try to open it, the error message pops up asking if i want to send a report. i've ran a virus scan, reinstalling itunes AND quicktime (which won't work either but i don't really care) restarting the computer, "repairing" itunes, checking my firewalls to see if they're blocking it. EVERYTHING! can anybody offer and ideas?
Try doing a full uninstall before you try the reinstall again.
iTunes needs QuickTime in order to work properly. Thank Apple for that. ![]()
Or how about this - don't use iTunes at all if you can avoid it?
i tried the full uninstall, and i need itunes, i just bought an ipod...
The issue began when you uninstalled Quicktime. It's a known issue and you get back in by reinstalling that and itunes.

When you install iTunes, Quicktime (QT) is automatically installed too. Itunes requires QT to run, for video functions as well as certain other iTunes features.
So, when you installed iTunes 6 - QT was installed at the same time by default.
Now, use the windows control panel to uninstall iTunes, then do a re-install of iTunes 6 - this will reinstall both iTunes and QT. Leave QT, just don't use it if you wish. It (QT) will be quite useful in the near future - you will see.
People, if you need iTunes or iPod support - go to Apples support web site, you will find a solution much faster as well as much more knowledge about iPods and iTunes in general. CNET is NOT the place to come, too much ignorant advice given - this includes the Moderators who don't seem very knowledgeable about iPod's or iTunes either!
