To members of CNET:
Can you please help me decide between Sony RDR-GX315,
Panasonic DMR-ES20 and Poineer DVR-320-S models.
I do to convert several VHS recorded tapes on to DVD
and be able to record new shows.
I'm lost, the more I read the more uncertain I feel as
to which represents the best value for me.
Sony RDR-GX315 is $299, Panasonic $248, and Poineer
around $ 250 as boxing day specials at several stores
in Toronto, Canada.
Can anyone hepl me out?
I will be gratefull!
Mike
My research has uncovered a significant dislike of the Sony 315 as flimsy, poorly featured compared to older recorder from Sonyand according to the guy at Circuit City returned more than any model he sells. Do not pay 300 bucks for this they are available as low as 189.
The Sony 300 - predecessor to the 315 - is more favorably received by users. I found several reviews that rated it highly but it has no firewire input and I dislike that omission.
There is a good article here on Cnet you might want to read

I am still trying to decide myself what to buy and have seriously over shopped this for my use. I hope my input is somewhat helpful
