I'm thinking of buying a DVD-Recorder for use with my TV & Comcast DVR set-top box.
My question is: With the single disc tray models, how would I make a backup copy of a DVD (without copywrite protection)? Is it possible or are these models exclusively for transferring VHS tapes or camcorder inputs?
Tx.
I don't think this is possible on a straight recorder. The only way it may work is with a recorder that has a built in hard drive and then only if the software on the device allow such things. I suppose you could buy an inexpensive player and a hard drive recorder and direct the oputput of the former to the latter's hard drive then record from that.
It would seem simpler to use a PC with two dvd drives - fairly common now - and something like Mediaone from Intervideo to do the work.
Just MHO of course and worth what you paid for it
I have a Dish Network DVR and I use a DVD recorder to make backup copies of the programs. Hook the A/V outputs of the DVR to the DVD recorder and make your backup. John
get a Sima GoDVD ct-2 or ct-1 adapter. that'll let you backup both copyrighted and non copyrighted material. unfortunately...the process is time consuming. using your computer would be the best and fastest way.
