the author said he would not choose one side or the other but you could tell that he was definitly going to the lcd side...
anyway..
while at the library computers when my internet wasn't working/or computer i would always get eyestrain, and was soo dizzy when i turned away from the computer, yeah it looks good at first sight, but after awhile it made my eyes hurt..
lcd vs. crt.
lcd-small-cool designs if any
crt-huge not so kool designs..
equals, monitors are only choosen on size and that's it...:)
oh by the way at the library computer only five minutes or so and not even that, the eyestrain started....and now my eyes hurt ever sense from looking at an lcd moitors or monitors...
Go into a store that has lcd monitors on, start at it about an hour straight..then tell me what do u get the eyestraing, come on really how long do u stare at a comp. screen hours?, ur on the net five mins u think have passed by, u got on at 7am saturday morning, and now look at the time is 7pm and it only felt like 5 mins..see what i mean..
just to let u know the library i used the comp. only let u on an hour at the most, now if no one else is waiting then u can be on for however long..:)
seriousely if i bought an lcd it would be on space..hey my pda zire 31 uses a lcd, and i get eyestrain a bit..
Just purchased a new Dell and ordered it with a 24'' LCD. The LCD is fantastic. No dead pixels and more options than anything else I have seen. The reader opinions on the CNET review convinced me and I have not regretted parting with the extra $.
Agree! Agree!
Use the scart type connector, then no flicker.
I have been a crt user for many years with no need for change. Until I read some reviews on LCD`s. 1st one I ordered was OK but graphics card didn`t help. Changed card and LCD to a DEll 17" ATI 9700 DVI run games with no issue. Up-graded agian to a Hyundai and made a gaming system very happy with the 19" L90D+. waiting for another review to up-grade again.
When upgrading to a new computer recently, I started out with a package which included a 17'' LCD. Really liked the display quality but decided to upgrade to a 19'. I ended up purchasing a NEC MultiSync LCD 1879GX
(got a good deal on it at our local Future Shop!!)and what a difference in the quality of the display! I would highly recommend this LCD to anyone - it is definatly worth the extra $s. I felt that when upgrading my computer, I should get a monitor that would compliment the computer and boy does it ever.
I a getting the new Dell LCD 190FP Monitor due to the great reviews and experience with Dell.
All positive, great experiences.
At least Dell is still doing their manufacturing in the US.
I used to work for IBM and they have sold their complete PC line out to China. Folks, think twice before buying IBM is all I can say.
Dell is far superior and keeps jobs in our country.
Do you really think that Dell products are "Made in America"? I would love to purchase american products if I could find any! (Not many left)
Riccary, I appreciate your patriotism but where have you been?
Virtually every part on every PC including our (johnny)Apple is outsourced.
Dell has even outsourced its support line outside the USA!Try and make sense of you problem while straining to come to terms with the dialect!
Sounds like you lost out with IBM and I am sorry to hear that if such is the case but everytime you step into Wal-Mart an American loses his job.
Im a gamer so lcd just dont do it for me lcd also have a lot opf where ie cnt touch em but with LCD u can punch the damn t hing and it wnt break :P but hey my opinion
Any reduction of the picture height, as in letter box, to me makes the picture look SMALLER. I don't care if the size is made up by the increased width. Am used to a 4:3 25" older set. Height measures about 14". My trig stinks. Just what diag. screen size will I have to buy so that a new 16:9 HDTV has at least that height? I'm sure it's around 32+ inches but my cabinetry is going to be a limiting factor. When I look at 32" widescreen in stores they look small. Must I go up ,to 37" in order to get the height I'm used to?
that's what i now proudly own!
I have a 17" LCD and I like it a lot because it is bright and fairly easy on the eyes. Colors are nice. The space issue is really what got to me. I had put off buying a computer because I just don't have a lot of space for a CRT monitor, but one day I was in Sam's Club I saw a system that was very attractive, in terms of features, price and the slim LCD monitor. I was sold almost immediately. I was aware of the various advantages of both formats, but I have never been disappointed with my choice.
Currently I use a 19" 1600X1200 0.22 CRT I find the CRT monitors are easier to use with Adobe Photoshop and Epson Printers, being a photographer I print about 85% of my pictures I seem to have better luck with calibrating my monitor to ICC Color Profiles. I would love to be able and get the same advantages with an LCD. I expect it will happen soon.
Bought a DEll 24 inch wide screen, with 8m/s. The refreshing rate is great for my Menieres.
Got it !! Dell 2405FPW 24 inches Diag.
I LOVE my 2405FPW !!!! It is PERFECTION !!!
I went through ALL 25 pages of "moderated" discussions - after having read the Review here in CNET. Thank goodness.
Only after waiting 2 days, and making the Dell phone salesman assure me that the "problems" with noise and overheating had been fixed, did I dare buy one.
I LOVE it !! I recommend it to everyone who can handle this much Real Estate.
Along with the brand new Gateway GT5012 WinXP Media Center to handle this MONSTER montor - I am sitting here doing EVERYTHING on it.
I am still having problems with the ATI X800 XL All-in-Wonder TV/Graphics card that I just got. ( New discussion thread ?) There are some "glitches" with the Software working completely with the XP Media Center OS. ATI is supposedly going to work on these bugs.
They involve M/S Error Message/Reporting dialog boxes - I guess this is the "New Blue Screen of Death" with the XP OS !!
With the ATI Catalyst Control Center software, I am :
Computing
Browsing
Listening to Audio/FM
Bluetooth/VoIP
DVD/Video
ATI Remote Control : Watching/Recording TV - PVR
( This is the biggest glitch ! Particularly with the ATI ".vcr" Format. A "Data Execution Prevention Error" - if anyone can help ATI with this problem, please do so, quickly !! Also a "Windows Explorer Error" - it closes the Win Explorer.)
Pretty much cutting edge.
