How do I create a active score/tally display?

I would like to create a series of web pages that visitors would view to gather information and learn certain concepts. This would be a large number of pages allowing the visitor to follow any path they choose. Part of the process would involve decision making and gathering information. The goal would be to simulate decision making and information gathering.

My Question:
How do I create a scorecard or tally sheet that displays points or items gathered. I would like this scorecard to display on each page as they move from page to page.
