I need to get a mp3 player for my daughter, 256mb size, would like to be built in battery but doesn't have to be. Whats the best to get?
For a flash-drive players (the ones that hold smaller amounts of music), I'd look at some of the offerings from Creative. They have strong reviews, extra features like FM tuner, and excellent battery life. Try the MuVo TX FM. But I'd like to make one suggestion about the battery. While a built-in battery may be handy, you're better off getting an MP3 player with a removable rechargeable battery. When the batter dies (and they all do eventually), they're easy to replace.
256mb is not going to be enuff muscle for any school age kids online music files_ one word_ iPod
spend the money now, but at least you're getting the jaguar of mp3 players and she'll love you for it...GL
"256mb is not going to be enuff muscle"
Sure it is. 256MB will easily accomodate 4 hours of music!
"for any school age kids online music files"
You shouldn't be teaching your children to illegally download music files.

The iPod is not the Jaguar of MP3 players. It's more like the Honda Civic of MP3 players.
It is pretty good and comfortable and easy for the average Joe to use, but it's not a great MP3 player.
What MP3 player is best for someone depends on the size of their MP3 collection and their listening needs. You can't just go around recommending the iPod line to everybody.
The Sony Atrac3plus format is smaller than MP3 format and 1GB of storage can hold 680 songs at the lowest compression. The battery life is suppost to be 70hrs on one AAA. Can't go wrong!
PS. Stay away from Rio crap.
"The Sony Atrac3plus format is smaller than MP3 format"
No. One format is not "smaller" than the other - they both have different compression rates available and a 64kbps ATRAC3plus file will be the same size as a 64kbps MP3.
"1GB of storage can hold 680 songs at the lowest compression."
You mean the highest compression (lowest file sizes). And that will sound so bad that the children will not be able to bear listening to it.
... Still, all in all, it's a pretty good MP3 player. But don't give it credit where it isn't due.
The E99 is a top quality mp3 player and atrac3plus isn't too bad at 96kb. If you were to go down the atrac3plus route then it'd be wise to have reasonably powerful computer (2ghz) as well to decrease conversion times. Personally I'd recommend iAudio U2 as it has internal rechargeble battery through USB 1.1 or 2.0 and is a bit cheaper than the Sony line...
''PS. Stay away from Rio crap.''
Rio? Crap? Rio was putting out some awesome stuff by the end of its career; the Forge was a highly respectable flash player (though bulky by today's standards), and the Carbon remains one of the best microdrive players to this day, with its great battery life and undeniably excellent design. The only crap about Rio was the hard drive problems with the Karma.
I like quality but if that Rio crap is for you that maybe you both have something in common?
its cheap easy small and even has a screen look it up
The MobiBlu Dah-1500i (the ''Cube'') is affordable, feature-packed, and incredibly tiny, and the design is very cool and original. The best value for a flash player in my opinion.
Wow, this post is a year old? Huh... that's interesting. Well, I guess my posts didn't really matter...
