Sony Ericsson W900i

by mitch_fan - 11/4/05 6:15 PM

I'm dying to get this phone, but there's no word on whether it's coming to the U.S. If I import this phone, will it still work here? I know that none of the U.S. carriers support some of the 3G applications (like video calling), but I'm more interested in the mp3 capacity/2mp camera/expansion slot/radio/form factor combination.

Also, if this phone does ever come to the U.S., can the firmware be updated to make it compatible with U.S. 3G?

No 3G in USA yet, and it is as least 2-3 years away

Do you actually live in the US??

Have you not heard of EV-DO?? Verizon has had their 3G service available for a while, and Sprint just rolled out their "Power Vision" 3G a week ago. Cingular also just expanded their 3G network on November 1st. I know that there aren't currently any 3G phones in the US that support video calling.

My question is this: since none of the US carriers use the 2100 MHz frequency, will European 3G phones not even work in the US?

I'd like to buy the SE W900, but I want to be sure that it will actually work here. I was under the impression that it would just operate on the 1900 MHz frequency (for Cingular). Can someone who actually knows tell me??

It will work as long as the phone supports 800/850 and 1900 mhz (the only frequencies supported by Cingular in the US). The 2100 mhz frequency is not supported in the US.

Only with tmobile

the w900i has the 900mhz, you couldn't make any calls with cingular, but definetly tmobile.

the chance that sony ericsson would make an update for it to support american 3g is 1-100

I will have it in stock on romeohifi.com 12/09 w900i

I will have Sonyericsson W900i in stock on 12/9, is Original Sonyericsson unlock.
I suggest using with Tmobile since it does not have the 850mhz, unless you are in Cali.
Cingular in california is 1900Mhz, in New York I know they have a deal with T-mobile till 2007.
I have heard from some of my retail customers that you can use the 3G on cingular, I saw some girls in California using it.
you can also post your question regarding the 3g on www.cellulartraders.com maybe some retailer knows

good luck

romeo

The SonyEricsson W900i is probably the best Camera phone out there today.
The picture quality is amazing. It produces a sharper image than any other phones I've seen and even better than some DigiCams.
Take a look at some images here:

Cheers,
