Iriver U10

by Goonz - 11/29/05 8:21 PM

I was looking at gettin the iriver U10 and had some questions. People have talked about the "iriverter" and how they put movies on the U10. Whole movies? those are huge, does the iriverter compress the files?

what are your thoughts on mp3 compression with DietMp3? does the quality suffer immensely?

And lastly, i've heard news about larger sized u10s coming out and wondered if anyone had heard any updates about that. If i buy the 1gb U10 this xmas, think iriver would let me upgrade for more $$$ later?

Thanks a bunch!

After looking into the 2gb a little furter, I found that it hasn't been released yet. Also going to iriver's gobal page :http://www.iriver.com/html/product/prpa_product.asp?pidx=74, you'll see that they haven't released it yet.

I too am waiting for the 2gb model to come out, but who knows when??

iriverter

If movies are filtered down to the resolution that the u10 holds, then the file size would actually be a lot smaller than the original size. There is a user review ""U guys should know about THIS!!" by Enian - October 24, 2005 that says they can get down to 200 megabytes after covnverting the movies down. The review, "Awesome once you can get movies on it" by Inyoury - October 25, 2005 says that the movie size after going through the iriverter is about 450 megabytes.

I do not have a u10, but this is what I have found. Hopefully it is helpful!
