Getting close to the holidays...coincidence? I think not!

by busymom51 - 10/14/08 5:27 PM In reply to: I did read there policy and it's not in there by kalel33

I wonder if this sudden "defense" of these scumbags might have something to do with the approach of the holiday season, a time when people are looking to buy cameras for gifts. That is how I happened to fall into their clutches last November, an experience that I compare to wading into a cesspool. RUN, do not walk, away from Fotoconnection as fast as you can! Their record speaks for itself.

I also have to wonder if someone posting a flattering comment might not have a vested interest of some kind. Hmmmmm.

Reason For My Posting

by Mornington2415 - 10/19/08 9:08 AM In reply to: Getting close to the holidays...coincidence? I think not! by busymom51

Its very simple, I order from them regularly and am aware of their rep online because I recently ordered something via that route. I also wrote a review of this merchant detailing my experience. Thing is, Im the type that goes out of my way to write reviews. All types. I am prepared to bet that the 2 replys to my messages here are from people who have never once written a positive review about anyone. Even after receiving the best service they could have asked for. But, when something doesnt go exactly as they wanted it to they come online and go nuts with there reviews.

not true

by kalel33 - 10/19/08 9:39 AM In reply to: Reason For My Posting by Mornington2415

You did what you wanted and got your review out. I gave any reader the stats based on what the company has done in the past with u resellerratings.com and the Better Business Bureau. Both of them showed them to be a poor seller.

I have gave good reviews of stores. I give high recommendations for Adorama, B&H, Buydig, and Amazon. They're not bait and switch stores, and have very good reputations. The thing is that "you" are responsible for each person that gets ripped off by your post, if they bought from there based on your recommendation.

The Better Business Bureau is the main place to find out about poor businesses and they performed absolutely horribly. 538 complaints in the last year and the BBB stating they are a bait and switch organization. You are one of them or got lucky, but you could not, with a good heart, recommend them to other people.

FOTOCONNECTION.COM - Caveat Emptor ( Buyer Beware )

by duke8866 - 4/14/09 1:13 PM In reply to: Any luck?? by bradiana

Bradiana, you must have noticed that as soon as you place an order on this website, you get the most audacious, despicable piece of warning (??)! Here you go.....

Your receipt of an electronic or other form of order confirmation does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell. FotoConnection.com reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order for any reason. FotoConnection.com reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order, without prior notice to you, to supply less than the quantity you ordered of any item. All orders placed over 2000.00 must obtain pre approval with an acceptable method of payment, as established by our Credit and Fraud Avoidance Department. We may require verifications or information before accepting any order.
We do not sell to other dealers, resellers, exporters, wholesalers, or customers who intend on reselling the product offered by www.fotoconnection.com. If you are one of the above please do not order online or call in, for your order will be rejected.

("We do not sell to other dealers...??? Right on the front page they have a tag for BULK ORDERS....Who's that for??)

My advice is, call your credit card company and withold payment by explaining to them in detail the above and also willing to hand over the above mentioned paragraph JUST as you would have it on your own order confirmation email or their own Policy page, which is very, very disturbing.

Then call them and tell them you are cancelling your order and ask them to send you an email confirming the same. Good luck.

Beware

by forexbill - 12/13/07 11:08 AM In reply to: FotoConnection.com by jakdin

I purchased this camera and SD card through their website, the camera came with a long life battery and quick charger. Jay from FotoConnection called me to tell me that the battery that came with the camera was only temporary and that I needed to buy a long life battery and I also needed to buy a quick start charger. When I told him that the website showed that the camera came with a long life battery and quick charger he started to reduce the price of those items. When I told him to cancel the order he said he would throw them in for free.

I ordered the Lexar SD 2GB 133-380 Professional Series 133x secure digital card, they sent some cheap replacement. When I called them they said that they didn’t have the one that I ordered but the one they sent me would work. When I told the customer service rep that I wanted to return the SD card he said that I was stupid. They also overcharged me $10.98 with no documentation of the extra charge.

I will dispute the charge with VISA. From my personal experience they are out to cheat, lie and steal from their customers.

These guys unbelievable

by ksreenivasu78 - 4/29/08 9:02 AM In reply to: FotoConnection.com by jakdin

I made a biggest mistake of my ordering camcorder on this website. I put two day shipping, I did not get the order in 10 days, then I called the customer service. They said we shipped the order today. I asked them to cancel the order. They told me to just refuse the package. I did. but they never give me my money back. I disputed the amount with credit card company. The reversed the transaction. When I called the credit card company, they wanted me talk to fotoconnection.com first they give them a call back. I called customer service, that guy is crazy. He said they refunded 80% of money back to credit card but they never did. They lied. and he thretened me. man............ never order on this site. I am going to call credit card company and file a complaint with consumer agency.
Dont BUY BUY BUY and be stupid.

FotoConnection.com are rip off artists

by SpidermanFoto - 6/24/08 8:37 AM In reply to: FotoConnection.com by jakdin

I ordered a camera and battery from FotoConnection.com. When received the battery was an improper battery for the camera. They refused to take it back and as I argued with them that I would send back the camera if they would not replace the battery they proceeded to act belligerent on the phone - asking me if I was "Spiderman's brother" (hence the Cnet username I chose here; telling me if I fought the charge with AMEX that I would "be on my knees begging for forgiveness" and went as far as to call me (and I am not kidding here) a "****ot". These guys are not trustworthy retailers. They are true NY scam artists - and I say that having lived in NYC for the better part of 11 years. I ask and hope that the credit card companies - AMEX, Visa, Mastercard and others to stop working them - protect your customers and yourself from these scammers.

Camera dealers

by Joe Ciccone - 5/6/05 5:30 AM In reply to: Trustworthy dealers by a4phantom

Abes of Maine about the best of the worst.

Stay away from sites using Green & white color type...
no kidding they all must have used the same guy to set up their web sites.

I actually bought a camera one night, the next day the dealer called me and when I wouldn't buy any of his extras (including some in house insurance for several hundred bucks extra) he said ' well I am not selling you this camera'

Anyway I have purchased several cameras from Abes and they will want to talk to you before shipping your purchase and they will attempt to sell you additional memory, batteries, extended guarantees etc...But they haven't been as aggressive as many of the others.

Check out Buy.com had good experiance with them...including returning a camera and getting back my money without any hassling.

good luck

Buy.Com

by snapshot2 Moderator - 5/12/05 6:34 AM In reply to: Is buy.com any good? by a4phantom

I have purchased from them before and never had a problem.

They are usually a bit higher than others.

They must have gotten a deal on that particular camera.

A little sales pressure, but ...

by sleepydad - 10/21/05 7:07 AM In reply to: Trustworthy dealers by a4phantom

I placed an order with Butterfly Photo this week. I received an email telling me to call in and ask for *** concerning my order. When I called, I spoke with a pleasant person although he did try to sell me memory, warranty, accessories. As he read through his list, I simply said "no" to each. It's the same thing that you get when you buy electronics at a retail chain. It was a minor inconvenience, but I saved fifty bucks off the suggested retail of my camera. I have not received my item yet so I cannot comment at this point on shipping time, quality, followup. I was told that I would receive my item next Tues/Wed which is an acceptable amount of time from today, Friday, considering that it's shipping from NY to CA.

Look for an etailer with a "bricks & mortar" location

by Skippy3246 - 11/11/05 5:42 PM In reply to: Trustworthy dealers by a4phantom

I was looking to buy a Nikon D70, and researched many different sites. As the old sayinggoes, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." I started out looking at only dealers with a four- or five-star rating.

Look over the comments carefully! A lot of them are ficticious. Havinggrown up in New York, I know that there aren't addresses such a Canarsie or Harlem. These are areas of New York, but not Post Offices. Also, many of the towns in other areas don't exist.

After looking over many different sites with "reasonable" prices, I was able to negotiate a similar, competitive price with a local retailer.

I tried ordering a flash from Ritz.com. Be careful with them....Make sure that the item you want (based on manufacturer's part number) because their customer service people are dumber than dirt. Otherwise, their prices are good and they ship when they say they will.
