At cingular today picing up my treo650 i came across the new ipaq 6515.it was released today for sale by cingular and as much as i dislike HP this pda is perfect.the sales rep let me play around with it for 30min.OS-ms03 with GPS built in,pretty screen with great responce as well as the toggle switch for web searching.it,s phone,s crystel clear sound---speaker had great sound====perfect perfect perfect.Hp picked up the ball and i feel has scored a touchdown.....................yes this is Qosmio
I skiped the treo and bought the ipaq 6515
Just installed the HP Nav software. None of the sounds play. I copied some of the sound files to my PC. They are wav files which do play on my pc. Copied a wav music file to the IPAQ. It would not play. I have reported the problem to HP and they have recreated it. This means you will not be able to get verbal navigation commands from the PDA untill HP releases a ROM fix. This does not impact MS Voice Command which works fine. Otherwise so far the phone/pda is incredible.
What does it tell us about the complexity of this equipment when not only myself by a whole team of support staff at HP could not solve the problem. There reason the Nav software had no audio and the PDA would not play wave files was a Sound setup box that needed to be checked to enable sounds for programs. Interesting the audio worked for all other programs including Voice Command.
I have had this device for 2 weeks and I must say it is the best phone I have every had. I would like to know if there is some free GPS Software thats out there for this device. It was shipped from Cingular without any and the software that I tried it seemed as if the GPS Would never pick up.
the best phone i have ever owned also.i took my cingular 6515 back the day after the post and picked it up online from convergent techonolgy unlocked and using it on the t-mobile network with perfection.the only proublem i have had has been with hp customer care teck support as fare as extended warrenty.on the third time they got me set in the 3 year next day exchange program that cost me 129.00 .not bad at all i feel.the item# for this warrenty is NBHU785E.it,s a great investment for sure.it,s just hard for hp to find it to sell to you
on the bottom right corner of you screen there is small gps icon.if that icon is of a grey color you must tap on it and redownload the gps quick connect software.when doing so you will notice that the icon turns blue.your good to go on gps connection but notice.the icon will start to fade grey in two days and you must redownloadn .when taping that icon you will see settings with the info on time left before next download.
it may be a conflict/lack of memory.
im sure you have your maps stored on your SD card.if not that may be the proublem.

Since you have owned the IPAQ 6515 for~4mos...are you still happy?
I also found a sweet deal at Cingular yesterday, but have also found "mixed" reviews.
Les
I ended up taking the cingular 6515 back then ordering the UK unlocked ipaq 6515 online from convergent giving me the option to use on the t-mobile network.it cost me a couple hundred dollors more yet well wourth the price..there have been many issues with the cingular 6515,s from sim card proublems to gps not working.i would advise you to skip the cingular ipaq.you may want to buy online uk unlocked or wait for the new ipaq 6940 due for release in mid summer.the 6940 upgrades are wifi as well as wm05.
leslie22 the Ipaq 6900 will be released around the first to mid april.online venders are gearing up and selling it for 600-700 dollors.these units are the unlocked uk versions.
