Volume

Is there a program to equalize MP3 or WMA files? I find that when playing files in a folder, the difference in the volumes of each file can be a problem, a louder file blasting your ears after a softer file.

There are lots of programs(you can just google them): the function you are looking for is called "normalize".

Most of what you'll turn up by googling "normalize" are CD rippers that can peak-normalize tracks before encoding. Most of these can't let the user normalize a group of WAV files on their hard drive, let alone normalize MP3's and WMA's.

To adjust the volume of MP3's (including bringing them all to the same perceived loudness), use MP3Gain. There's nothing you can do for your WMA's, so if you want to normalize them, you'll have to decode them to WAV's, normalize the WAV's, and re-encode the WAV's to WMA's. For normalizing WAV's, I recommend WaveGain.

That's just what I was looking for.

Thanks!
