Anybody out there acually like apple?

by Xboxfan360 - 11/6/05 5:38 PM

Hey everybody, ive been looking at the ipod nano and even with the scratch prone and lack of fm radio i really like it. But whenever im on here i see how much people hate ipods and apple products. I was wondering if there are any of you that acually HAVE an ipod nano and would recommend it. Thanks

Most of the people who talk bad about Apples on these forums hate them just because they are Apples. I have a nano and I love it. I would highly recommend getting the Invisible Shield (use google to find it) to prevent scratches, however.

If you read the forums at ilounge.com, everyone there loves their Nano's. I love it for its size, reliability and ease of use, and its integration with Itunes. It also looks great. The only problems are the scratches (which you mentioned), and the fact that the sound quality is slightly inferior to some other products.

Well YEAH. Of course everybody there seems to love their I-Pods. The administration has a tendency to delete or close threads when people complain or ask for new features.

I said everyone loves them, but thats not true. There have been a bunch of people complaining about the scratching issue and asking for new features. In general though, most people are at least satisfied. The question was if there are actually people who like their Nano's, and the answer is clearly yes.

get ipod video

i pretty much consider Ipod Nanos to be out-of-date because they pretty much do everything like all the other color ipods but are just crazy small. I found that I dont even like them because theyre too small. Ipod Video works good for me. The only downfall is it doesn't play AVIs and Itunes/quicktime doesn't allow you to rip DVDs so you have to use a third party program(which is probably better because apple would put some kind of protected format on the ripped DVDs) to convert/rip. Ipod nano just seems bad compared to the 5g ipod video....

just my $0.02

There is a free piece of software

called Handbrake.
It will rip a dvd and output it in format suitable for the 5th Generation iPod.
There is a version for Linux and BeOS. There is not a Windows version.
Apple cannot put "protection" on DVD's that you rip, it would be a neat trick though.
If you are running Windows, best try the other posters suggestions. you need to be looking for something that will produce an output and input like this:

Any DVD-like source: VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD (even encrypted)
• PAL or NTSC
• AC-3, LPCM or MPEG audio tracks

Outputs:
• File format: MP4, AVI or OGM
• Video: MPEG-4 or H.264 (1 or 2 passes or constant quantizer encoding)
• Audio: AAC, MP3, Vorbis or AC-3 pass-through (supports encoding of several audio tracks)
• Chapter selection
• Basic subtitle support (burned into the picture)
• Integrated bitrate calculator
• Picture deinterlacing, cropping and scaling
• Grayscale encoding

Good Luck

that all apple products suck.

macs, junk (unless you do video editing)
ipods, inefficient; get a creative or a sony
quicktime 7, crap. sticking with 6, and its crap too.
itunes, bulky and slow. stick with winamp if you want to organize your music
