ftp://ftp.linksys.com/international/drivers/
download the wma11b_dotnetfix.zip.
Install the patch
Stop and start the Digital Media service (or reboot if that is greek to you)
Run the media folder manager and that is it.

I got both >net 1.0 and 1.1 to uninstall and reinstall after renaming this file in the windows/system32 directory. then both .net versions are installed and runnung. The wma11b and folder manager both work fine now.

Easy fix!

by teamhatchet - 9/26/05 1:48 PM In reply to: WMA11B Media Folder Manager crashes after installing XP SP2 by ccampbell

After searching through many threads, there were various answers on how to fix this problem. They ranged from uninstalling SP2, installing the UK Linksys *.exe patch and the last one was to remove the ''Microsoft.net'' files in ''Add or Remove Programs'' in the Control Panel. I opted for the last suggestion. After removing the two Microsoft.Net programs (one was a hot fix), I rebooted the computer. Just to add, I had already uninstalled the Linksys program prior to this. Once up, I reinstalled the Media Adapter software and I was as good as new. I was able to click on the ''Wireles-B Media Folder'' icon and not get the error message. I could actually see what I had in there! Just agree/click yes on everything in the software load as it reinstalls the "Microsoft.Net" framework file (this is the friendly version we all remember prior to SP2). Just be sure that when you do the automatic updates from Microsoft that you don't update this file. If you do, you now know what the fix is.

Anyway, it looks like the research paid off and I'm back in business! As this seemed to be one big pain in the ass in the beginning, the fix was pretty quick and easy!!!

Good luck!

.NET Framework is the Cause, Guaranteed !

by ajiosue - 9/4/06 10:30 AM In reply to: WMA11B Media Folder Manager crashes after installing XP SP2 by ccampbell

By virtue of Windows Update, you get all the updates to .NET Framework installed. I had to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0, 1.1 Hotfix, 1.1, 1.0 Hotfix, then 1.0. Uninstall the WMA software, and then reinstall it letting .Net Framework 1.0.3705 be installed from the software installation program. All will work fine from there.
