sony mp3 players

by jdog42584 - 10/27/05 1:54 PM

I'm maybe interested in one of the sony flash players, but I don't really understand the format thing. Can anyone explain it to me. Can I still use the wma format with the sony? Also can I download music from say Napster or one of those, does it have to be from the sony music store?
Thanks

Sony uses ATRAC to compress audio files allowing you to potentially store more music on your digital music player. You can convert wma files to ATRAC and play them on your flash player. If you want use Napster to buy music then you will have to burn those music files to a CD then use that CD to transfer the music to Sony's sonicstage. Hope this helps. I am pretty much clueless when it comes to Sony except PS2's but I do know Sonys uses ATRAC giving you more songs on their MP3 players. Sonys default jukebox player (whatever that is) should automatically convert WMA files to ATRAC for you so you can put them on your player. Most players use music store downloads it would be safer in your case to just use Sony Music store considering ATRAC isnt as widely used as WMA & MP3 and is basically exclusive to Sony.
