Im in the Market for a new laptop, one that is powerful enough to play big games. Im just looking to compare which is really a better value, the Dell XPS Gen 2 or the alienware Area-51m 7700. Im not looking for any biased opions about a bad time u had with either company i just want to know what the over all consensus is about which is better?
p.s. if anyone has a suggestion about another laptop i might want to consider please tell me.

Sorry, but this is a name to just remove from the list.

the dell xps2 has a real support group so if anything goes wrong with your notebook you dont end up fixing it yourself.I owend the xps2....a great notebook f,sure.
I have had my laptop for 10 months in "working" condition... never lived up to its exectations, than a manufacturing defect led to the screen cracking and alienware called it abuse... than i PROVED their wrongdoings and guess what.... they voided my warranty because i opened the screen... hmmm first they werent willing to fix it or even look at it and than voided my warranty for proving them wrong... well how was the screen going to get replaced even if it was my fault to begin with??? its uhmm a LAPTOP, paid 4 grand for a brick with no service... further BBB voted with me on this one and guess what...................... ALIENWARE didnt care for the BBB, 4 months of arguing and still no resolve btw florida department of agriculture & custumer services does not control AW either so sooner or later ill most likely have to take them to court
I think that the goverment should step in and force all computer makers to back up there products with a 4 year warrenty.what would this do? this action would insure that the consumer is note getting riped off like they are now.with all pc makers haveing to step and play by the rules we would get a much better built and a longer lasting unit.
oh im sorry i was dreaming.
Between these two choice's I would definitely go with The Dell. You don't want a Pentium 4 product for a laptop unless you want a really hot laptop. Also, If I were you I would do a little more research and maybe try and find a laptop with AMD Turion 64. This would future proof you somewhat. The only problem with all of the Turion 64's I have seen is that the highest graphics card available I have seen in any of them is the ATI x700 card. This is not bad but not nearly as good as the NVidia Geforce 7800. Anyway, if you want to check out the AMD options check out www.Ibuypower.com for what looks like a nice system.
