HDMI and Home Theater
by Esw88 - 10/10/05 9:26 AMAssuming I get my HDMI connection to work, what happens when I hook up a receiver and surround sound speakers. Where does the HDMI cable go, or am I not able to use it with a home theater set up?
Please I need answer.

Just run a couple of RCA cables to the audio L and R output's of your TV and put them into your receiver's Aux inputs or Tape In inputs. Wire up your speakers to your receiver's speaker terminals and you're good to go. In the case of a variable audio out connection, you'll use your TV volume control. In the case of a fixed audio out, you'll use your receiver's volume control.

If your receiver does not have any HDMI inputs what you may need to do is plug the HDMI into your TV set and see if you have a digital audio out plug so you can run it back to your receiver.
