by ruperto - 10/4/05 6:18 PM

hey, im thinking in buying a black nano 4 gig, actually i have a very bad product from samsung the yp-910gs, so im thinking about replacing it, in this i only have 4 gigs of mp3, so i dont know if is recommended to buy the ipod nano, or i need just wait for the 2nd gen of 6 and maybe 8 gigs, if so, do you know when its going to be, or just buy the 4 gigs now

Might as well buy the Nano...

If what you really want is size, the Nano is the biggest flash player at the moment.

There's not really much sense in waiting for 6GB or 8GB models... because if/when they come out, it will not be long before either a new model of I-Pod comes out or bigger sizes yet come out.

Technological advance is a steady march.

If you really want to wait for something better then you'll always be waiting and never buying.

I would go ahead and buy now. Just how much space do you need? As an example, right now I've got 646 songs on my 4 Gb Nano, good for 1.7 days of play according to iTunes, and still have 1.3 gigs of space left. It's astoundingly portable (I forget I'm wearing it) and lightweight. The only drawbacks I see? First, it's a fingerprint magnet (the chrome back being especially bad), and there is no provision for a lanyard or other carrying facility, save Apple's extra-cost arm-band or earphone lanyard products (I carry mine in an old ballistic nylon belt sheath originally intended for small knives, which allows me to operate the controls with the top closed). Also, I've yet to find a way to erase unwanted or duplicate songs on the iPod itself, so you're pretty well tied to iTunes to manipulate the files. If these things don't bother you, I can recommend the product, even though others have better prices/features and the earbuds are still that dreadful glaring white that screams "I'm a trendy 'Podhead!" Far better to have the enjoyment of portable music everywhere (sleep timer and back-lit color display make it useful for bedtime use, too) than waiting for something that may never happen. Have fun!
