Photoshop is just to complicated for my use. The learning curve is off the charts. Photoshop Elements has all the things I need to handle photos.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 is the answer great tools for non-professional. Version 4.0 just came out. Fry's price was $79.99 with an Adobe rebate of $20.00 = $59.99 if you could show previous ownership of 3.0, Box price was $99.99 so without rebate it would be $79.99.
I’m a little miffed at Adobe 3.o is only a year old and now 4.0. They could have issued an upgrade for less money
The Gimp 2, works as well as , and in some cases better than photoshop. All this from a piece of open source software, not to be sniffed at.
After getting to grips with The Gimp, which is just as easy to use as photoshop & paintshop pro, you will wonder why all software isnt free.
I personaly have worked with photoshop for a couple years designing posters / flyers / programs ect, and to be honest i much prefer the feel and ease that you can get similar/ better results using The Gimp 2.
just like microsoft office, why use that when Open Office is compatible and just as capable.
get The Gimp 2 here - http://www.gimp.org/
get Open Office here - http://www.openoffice.org/
DONT FEED THE BIG WIGS WHO OWN THE MARKET AND DICTATE INFLATED PRICES. SUPPORT THE OPEN SOURCE COMMUNITIES AND SAVE YOURSELF MONEY =o)
Also there is plenty off support for The Gimp 2, and many sites offering hints and tips on its usage.
Hi - I do about the sames tasks that you do for my photo-editing. I don't know a lot, and don't need a lot. I found a great free program that works really well, is free, easy, many features, and great results! Maybe it'll do the trick for you! It's called FS Viewer/FastStone Image Viewer. Just bring up your image, right-click on the screen, and the list of options pops up! Here's the link: http:\\www.faststone.org/ -ginni aka ladytrickster ginnirosa@msn.com
For the money PI10 does more things faster than any other graphics program I know of. I currently have: PS7,CS, PSElements3, PictureIt!, PhotoImpact6,7,XL, StudioLine Photo Edition, ACDSee Powerpack6. PI10 was selling for around $70 in the Seattle area last week. Thats an absolute steal for this program.
For $100 you can't go wrong with PaintShop Pro (formerly by JASC but now part of Corel). It has everything you might want and more and their mini-movies in the Help menu are very helpful as well.
I have used a lot of photo programs but,the best came with a HP PAVILION on a DVD that has works 2002 ETC. In Microsoft Picture It, it does all that most people need plus the disc was free with the computer with XP on the hard drive .you can change heads, resize and a lot of other like red eye and a lot of "how to do them" so you get it right. I do remember photo plus 4
in the old 98 and that was a great and also easy way to work with photo's.Out of the two I go for Picture it. Regards Yohan.
use Panit Shop Pro 9 of X(10) mainly because they use layers and the same plugins.
It was a freebie...but, then again, so was my bootleg copy of PhotoShop.
Try Picasa2, located on web at http://picasa.google.com/index.html ,and it is free with lots of functions available and works really well. For Win 98 and Win XP.
Hi 316. I use the Kodak editing program, I do have a Kodak camera but the program is free and is easy to use and you can email Piccies with it.
http://www.kodak.com is where you will det it, and it works fine.
No doubt about it, they dont come any cheaper than Gimp, and it is surprisingly good if you study the tutorials and learn how to use it to the best advantage
For programs with corel at afordable price
I use the ACDSEE7,if you go to ACDSEE.com and use the trail version(30)days they give you a power bundle to buy at a lesser rate and they offer the 8.0 version.
there is the Editor 4.0 I think with this pack of awesome programs. I plan on purchasing it myself.
GoodLuck. ps-it's right at 99.00.
it really depends on how much you know,or don't know.
Photoshop is very expensive and I found it too complicated for me.If you want something simple and cheep then Irfanview might do the job, best of all its free.I quite like JASC,I have that programme and its quite good, does most of the things I want it too.whatever one you choose you are going to have to learn the basics in using it - and it doesn't have to be difficult or painful!
