I am considering switching from my current t-mobile family plan to the nextel free incoming plans, can anyone give some insight about nextels service? I think the "walkie talkie" feature looks like it could save some serious minutes (and get me out of long conversations with my wife:) (kidding) I currently work for an agent that sells verizon, so I understand somewhat how verizon and its competitors work, but nextel really catches my eye. let me know what you think. (yes, I know I have t-mobile, work for verizon, and want to switch to nextel)
And I hate that I did it. 1st it costs me about 1000 for breaking my contract. next I found that the walkie talkie service wasn't really worth it after it was all said and done...i have the 500 min w/free incoming call and i wish i'd kept my butt where i was in the first place, with T-mobile.
KEEP THE PHONE COMPANY YOU HAVE.NEXTEL IS NOT THE ANSWER.MOST OF THE TIME YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEIMG SAID ON THE WALKIE TALKIE,AND YOU END UP CALLING.THE PHONE SERVICE IN MY AREA IS VERY BAD,CALLS ARE DROP,AND THE CALLS ARE NOT CLEAR.I LIVE IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO..
If it's your family, then consider cingular's new PTT phones. It's as fast as Nextel.
I switched from Nextel to T-Mobile, and I couldn't be happier. If you watched the Super Bowl, and saw the guy use the Sprint/Nextel phone as a theft deterrent, that's all it's worth. The phones drop calls, the texting locks up, you can't always direct connect, and the squeeling you get its annoying.
I recently switched to Nextel from VZW and am very pleased. I have better coverage in northern Michigan than I did with VZW, believe it or not. My experience with VZW's equipment has been terrible there PTT phones are a complete waste of time and money as well as their PTT service. Anyway I have had no problems with Nextel, phone and service has been very solid, and in the last 2 weeks they now have international text messaging and it works great. I can send messages to europe all day for no extra charge. But the best part of it all, is my usual 30 min call from my wife on the way home, is now only about 5. HOT DAMN
the decision you make should be based on where you live i live in detroit mi and i get wonderful service i have had my phone for two years and only one dropped call has occured the only things i hate about nextel is the merger with sprint and annoying people who use their ptt on speaker in public
ps t mobile sucks in my area
get the one with the best reception....if i were, id stick to any gsm carrier..tmobile or cingular
