Mozilla Thunderbird display

by rbul - 9/6/05 7:55 PM

When accessing my e-mail,Inbox indicates (10) messages, however they are not displayed for opening.

When I select "Get Messages" 10 messages can be seen only momentarily, then no messages remain to be opened.

I can not find what I need to correct to enable display of messages and enable opening.

Any ideas?

Thanks, rbul

Are you

by PudgyOne - 9/7/05 2:00 AM In reply to: Mozilla Thunderbird display by rbul

Are you viewing them on the website first?

Do you have Message fileter that are marking them read or putting them in the folders you want them in?

The number of messages counts even when they are going into two, three, or even four different folders

Hope this helps

Compacting Folders

I do find it necessary to compact my inbox each time I access my messages, why should this be necessary?

Compacting Folders

I seem to be answering my own questions...

For anyone interested,
I had accumulated a vast hoard of deleted e-mails in the Trash Bin, once I emptied the Trash Bin, no more compacting was necessary.

Suggestion

Trash compacting and removal is your problem.

Have you downloaded the latest version of Firefox suggested by mouseoroma? Reinstall the latest version of Firefox, 1.0.6. Just came out recently.

No updates on trash. By the way, when was the last time you emptied your trash from your operating system?
I empty the trash a several times a day professionally on a Mac. I have to in the publishing area. Many large files all add up. Have you ever run out of disk space?
Your trash is still on your desk top and part of your hard drive memory.

Same issue

by cat&mouse - 10/4/05 10:19 AM In reply to: Mozilla Thunderbird display by rbul

Hi,

Since this week end, I've got exactly the same issue.
The mails in one of my inbox (I've got several inboxes as are not displayed anymore but will appear if I compact the folder. The other folders (sent, draft, inboxes from other email accounts) normally display the mails. Just that one is not... I removed some old mails to clean it a bit, then emptied the trash bin, but same problem.
Done an antivirus check as well. Nothing.
Any other ideas ?

(version is Thunderbird 1.07).

try this

by jonah jones Moderator - 10/10/05 8:38 AM In reply to: Same issue by cat&mouse

create a new folder in the inbox section
(call it 'temp name of problem inbox')
drag all the emails from the old 'name' to temp 'name
delete 'name'
close down thunderbird
open it
creat a new 'name' inbox
drag the emails back
delete temp 'name'

it worked for me :-)
