Hello Lee and everyone.
I have a nice system that I built several years ago. It is a SCSI system built around a SCSI SuperMicro motherboard. Lately my computer has been acting up, freezing very often. While reading the answer by Greg H of Carmel on 10-07-05, about power supplies, I got to thinking that maybe a case with better air flow and a bigger power supply will do wonders for my system. Is this a good idea?
I am running win 2k in a case with no slots left, every single one is occupied.
I have an 18gb IBM SCSI Hard drive to run the OS.
2 ATA Maxtor hard drives for storage, I do a lot with images.
A Plextor CD-RW
A BenQ DVD-RW
Floppy disk.
ATI all in wonder pro 128 video card
Sound card
And the other stuff that I don’t even remember what it is for.
I maintain my system religiously by defragging, cleaning the registry, getting rid off spy ware and other undesirable stuff with Spybot and Clean my PC. I have Norton complete and a Netgear router with a built in fire wall. I think that I am doing everything right as far as maintaining my computer, and still it is freezing up lately.
Can anyone help? Is it a good idea to change box and include a bigger power supply?
Thanks in advance for your help.
