How to add permission?

by four_engines - 10/7/05 3:02 AM

Hello All!

I'm new to this forum so here comes my first post...

I've got 2 PCs. Both running XP and on the same Workgroup.

On PC A, I want to give full control to User B on PC B. However, on PC A, I
can't see who is on PC B. As such, I can't allow User B to have full control
on PC A.

Please help. Thanks!

F.E

You need to set the Security Tab

to display when you right click the drive you want to share. To do that, you need to turn off Simple File Sharing.

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options, View tab, then in the Advanced section, (scroll down box), turn off ''Simple File Sharing''. Click Apply, OK.

Then you can right click the drive in Windows Explorer for PC A, and under Sharing and Security, you will see a Security tab that wasn't there before. That is where you set permissions. And under the Sharing tab you can set permissions for computers over a network.

The Windows XP help files on those tabs are very helpful on these.

Good luck

Mark
