a few months ago, i upgraded to a 250gig WD drive from my stock compaq drive [maxtor 80gig]. my system is a couple years old, with an AMD Athlon xp 2200+, stock mobo, and a few upgrades [video card, ram, sound card, and hdd].
the problem now is that i'm trying to remove my old hdd completely [no longer using it as the slave], but compaq made a partition solely for recovery.. i think. it's listed as PRESARIO_RP, and is a D: drive. it's attached at the hip to the old drive. is it because of this D: drive that i'm not able to remove my old hdd?
is there an easy way to get around this seemingly small problem? you'd think that by copying the old drive, the new one would be able to operate without this umbilical cord. help!
What do you plan to do if you need to restore or perform a system recovery? Did you make recovery CDs? Did you buy another copy of XP? Getting rid of that partition without a plan in case of a computer failure is not a good idea.
