I ride dirt bikes and have a helmet camera that I plug into my miniDV camcorder. Unfortunately the camera is fairly bulky and I'm afraid it'll get busted in a crash. Does anyone know of a small, and preferably inexpensive, camcorder or video recording device? I don't need a camera as much as just the recording feature. A/V input and LANC are critical.
Well I know someone who fastened a Hi8mm to the handle bars of his bike, the video was wild. John
I got to reading my first post and it's a little confusing. The helmet camera is great (it's about the size of a pack of Life Savers). The bulky part is the camcorder, which I'm basically just using as a recorder. I'm using a Sony TRV-25 but it's awefully nice to be lugging around. I need something smaller that can record video from an external source.
you need the adventure cam

it is approx $135 at costco
Thanks...I have the helmet cam already. I need something to record with. I'm trying to find an inexpensive camcorder or other portable recorder to plug the helmet cam into.
Check out the aiptek or mustech lines. They are very inexpensive and small. I'm just not sure if they support an external piece such as a helmet cam. My 13 yr. old sister has an aiptek 4500 (about $88 on sale at Target) Works surprisingly well. It's one of those all-in-one jobs; video recorder, mp3 player, voice recorder, and digital camera. Good luck.
I am looking for both a helmet cam and a digital camcorder to use with it for my boyfriend. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi, Did you ever find where to buy these items? I also want to buy one for a Christmas present and don't want to spend a lot. Any advice?
Thanks
