3 Chip vs HD camcorder
by phlem - 9/27/05 4:55 PMI am considering the purchase of a new camcorder. For practality which is the better choice, a 3 ccd camcorder or a HD camcorder.
I hear that the HD format is still not standard and I want this to last a few years.
The pros I talk to say that Sony HD is the way to go.

However, the camera can downsample to SD for right now, and you will still have the HD recording for later. It's hard to tell what or when folks like Canon will be coming up with, but the consensus is record in HD now. BTW, I think the Sony HD camera is 3CCD.
Be sure you really know what HD is. It is 1080i. Without that ability, it is not HD.

I am using an IBM T41 laptop to edit. Does this mean I need a new computer too???.
