I am considering the purchase of a new camcorder. For practality which is the better choice, a 3 ccd camcorder or a HD camcorder.
I hear that the HD format is still not standard and I want this to last a few years.
They also say you will need a new computer to handle HD. However, the camera can downsample to SD for right now, and you will still have the HD recording for later. It's hard to tell what or when folks like Canon will be coming up with, but the consensus is record in HD now. BTW, I think the Sony HD camera is 3CCD.
Be sure you really know what HD is. It is 1080i. Without that ability, it is not HD.
Thanks for the reply. the camcorder I am interested in is the Sony Handycam HDR-HC1. I have Premiere Pro 1.5 with the HD plug in.
I am using an IBM T41 laptop to edit. Does this mean I need a new computer too???.
thanks
The guys I heard were talking about dual core AMD 64s with PLENTY of memory and fast hard drive space. A laptop is not going to cut it.
the hardware requirements will not be as great.
