1080i? do i truly have this

the above link is to the information sheet on my tv. It list 1080i, 720p, 540p, 480i, etc. but no dvi input only component. Will i truly see 1080i on my tv if i buy a HD Receiver? Or is the 1080i i'm seeing only done through software in the tv.
The reason i ask is this, i was told that component cables are only capable of 480i. To reach 1080i the tv applies an algorithm to up to resolution but it's not the same as true 1080i.

Well the spec sheet is a little vauge on how it states the reoultion of this set. The current CRT projecton TVs will do 1080i native. But if this 4 years old(?) it may only do 720p
If you look through some of the other posts you will see in terms of resoultion the CRT still RULES.
Most HD LCD,DLP and plasmas are 720p(1280x720). There are some of the newer plasmas that will do 1080i but they are BIG $$$$$$$$$. John
