Blackberry

by SMatthews - 9/9/05 8:37 AM

I need help with some system issues that I have experienced with my Blackberry Enterprise Server(BES). I have many users that either cannot sync or they are syncing and then days or weeks later they are bumped off and cannot sync. What could be causing this? They all are wireless and we use outlook. Please help!!

BlackBerry Enterprise Activations

If you are running BES 4.0 I have noticed that some handhelds require being wiped of all data before completing Enterprise Activation especially if recycling units to new hires. Killing or wiping the handheld prevents errors caused by having multiple users with the same pin. BES likes to keep the users stats so if you remove and add a user it may remember the status of a handheld or user. In addition your Exchange Server could possibly be tagging the data file from RIM as Spam. If this happens the activation will never go through. This is usually due to filtering on some level in Exchange. Also if you have users that are trying to do a desktop sync to get personal contacts after completing the enterprise activation the service book entry will be affected causing issues with sending or receiving corporate e-mail. Note: some BES Software are not backwards compatible with older handhelds, upgrading may be necessary.

I hope this helps!
