i dont know wut's SP2
Toshiba has best engineering. FSB you're looking at is 533. MB comes with 1 GB DDR2 memory at lowest price and also buy your extended warrenty through Toshiba (system guard). it protects against accidental damage for 4 years. This applies no matter where you purchase your notebook. You must register for the system guard within 30 days of purchase. Also Toshiba has rebates and free shipping and lowest prices are available right now. Please keep in mind that your notebook will be technically outdated within about 3 months after you buy it.
Sorry, but with such misfires as floppy drives that corrupted data (years ago) to a recent misfire on electro static discharge protection I can flatly state that Toshiba's engineering is less than best.
They have some nice units, but we don't consider them at the office.
Bob
Well thanks Bob and all the others, I guess I should not by a Toshiba and I shouldn't even think about it. Having a detailed post from Fireflystudio and Bob as a moderator I think going for a Toshiba would not be a wise choice.
Thanks once again and keep updating , I getting to know a lot of issues ...
bob does not like toshiba.yet he likes hp hahahaaha.there is something wrong there bob with your thinking.stop spaming toshiba.your fact was a flaw that has been fixed by the first makers of pc notebook being toshiba.the owners that did have issues with your fact are now happy toshiba users so get over it or even better.go buy a toshiba notebook and be a happy notebook user.hey bob get over it!!!!
why does toshiba have the highest customer happy happy rating.dont favor one pc maker over another just because you dont like them.Toshiba ranks the 1# best so be fair to the people that need info on buying.let them know of all of the issues that all the pc notebook makers have.stop spam downing toshiba.your the M man be fair
I recently purchased a Sony VGN660W notebook. So far all is fine, although it's only been 3 weeks. I saw on another board that Consumer Reports had a list of notebook reliability ratings.
1. Toshiba
2. Sony
3. IBM
4. HP
5. Dell
On the bottom of the pile (I do not know the numerical ranking) was Gateway, which was initially my first choice because of value. That surprised me. Obviously, I changed my mind.
Prices aren't bad at www.sonystyle.com either or one of their outlets. As mentioned here in another message, with a notebook get an extended warranty.
Thinkpad was the PC Mag and PC World reader's choice for notebooks.

I would say that u should go with the toshiba m55 or m45, becuz it's the best. toshiba has the best speakerz and the best screen of them all, it's actually even brighter than the sony's xbrite! the m55 is also small, light and thin, and the colour is awesome. it has a fast processor, a huge hard drive, and a decent amount of RAM. the graphic card isnt the best, but its decent. especially the toshiba m55, it has a high rating on a lot of sites, and it's the editor's choice in pcmag.
tosiba,s the call.I own one and it has been the best notebook i have ever used.cutomer care is great!although i have never had to call them .my second choice would be the ibm thinkpad then dell.dont go sony,Hp/compaq.you will regret it.if you choose to go hp/compaq or sony buy your self a new home phone that has the speaker phone option on it you will need the speaker phone to talk to there teck support alot asking them why the pc you just bought that has there name on it will not work right.NO JOke
