I already own the Model Canon Ixus 400 (4.0 megapixels) since 2 years.
Before starting a 3-months trip thru the US-States in April this year I bought the new model Canon Ixus 700 (7.1 megapixels). Both of them have a metallic body and are of course less destructible than those ones with a plastic body and they are small.
The resolution of both of them are phenomenal.

Picture quality is pretty good. Disadvantages: is a bit slow in taking the picture (sometimes you miss the right moment) and has a very disappointing battery capacity. If you go on a longer holiday and there is no electricity there, you would need at least four fully charged batteries. They are very expensive. Don't use the screen on the back. That drains the battery very quickly. You would think that there would be a solution to that problem by now.
But the pictures are okay.
Hi, Cannon A80. Regards Lewis Stubbs
I chose this 4 mega pixel camera as I don't usually print out my photos so 4 mega pixels was plenty. Also it's weather proof so I can take photos in the rain, and has super macro as I like to take close ups. It's very compact and also takes short video sequences with sound, you can also put sound on still shots. If you like taking panoramic photos, it also has a feature to make that really easy.
My only complaint with it is that when I go into the menu to set super macro, it only stays on as long as the camera is on. When you turn it off it goes back to default, so you have to set it everytime.
Overall, a very good camera, and reasonably priced at £170. It does only come with a 32MB card though (about 30 pics at normal quality), so you need to buy extra straight off.
This camera always seems to give me "fuzzy" images no matter what mode I shoot them in. Could it be a problem with my computer monitor? I still have an older CRT monitor. Battery life with this camera is excellent. I do always try to carry a fully charged spare with me.
This is my second DSC.
First one was impressive Nikon 4500...still in family.
KMD A200:
PROS:
1. Cost - Lot cheaper than Nikon 8700. So much that at same cost, I got 1GB CF card as well.
2. Manual zoom is fun to use and yes this save lot of battery juice.
3. Good egonomics.
CONS:
1. Cant compete with Macro capability of Nikon 4500.
2. Colors are not so vivid as in Nikon 4500.
3. Poor EVF....this makes the manual Focus totally useless.
A bit slow to react for the second shot, but handy size.
Love this camera!
There is much hype about "mine is bigger that yours".
I've been working for the last years in the photo business, and it is great to keep that ball running mainly for the point and shoot in terms of sales, but IMHO it will settle down in the near future.
The best film cameras have around 10 Mp, and they will still be here for the pro/creative user although digital has already reached that frontier.
Summing up the facts, if you don't make prints larger than A4 (and that will be over 90% of the crowd)it is more than enough a 3 or 4 Mp camera .
If you make creative shooting go for a larger zoom as 8x-12x and ensure that it has a uncompressed format as RAW or TIFF.
Be carefull with the optics as it is there where the secret lies. You must be aware of the limitations of the zoom vs fixed lenses and if you want to play all the tricks in the trade you'll need a interchangeable lenses camera.

4 megapixels - Olympus C755 (Same as C750). The camera is great. The delays between pictures IS annoying especially with grandchildren, but this is the only complaint. Now I have to take some time to learn how to use all of the features.
Hi,
Now that you have mastered this camera ,are you still satisfied with same or do you have reservations?
I find this camera rather interesting and thought that maybe I would purchase one on EBay......
Any information you may provide would be much appreciated........
Thank you and have a pleasant evening......

I am not an expert on digital cameras
I guess I am still waiting for some issues getting clarified. I believe they are still overpriced
If you know of a good digital camera with decent price please postthe info
I have had the FZ20 for about 4 months and really like it. I like the 35mm feel and the Leica optics can't be beat. The fact that it carries f2.8 throughout the zoom range is a real plus. I don't have any real issues with the camera other tha the placement of the exposure button.
I highly recommend this camera.
Hi I`ve had my Pansonic for about 18months. The best thing I did is get Panasonic to send me a PDF so I could download it onto 8 1/2 X 11 paper.
I found that it took me awhile to get used to it. My previous camera was and Olytmpus C2100 Ultra Zoom. It was rated 1.9 MP but seemed to function like a 3.5 MP Special features with teh Panasonic is its aboility to selectively set your pictures and results. The biggest question that I have is just how many MP does the old film 35 mm cameras have on say an SAE of 200. ~Yellowhand~
I love my camera a few to many settings and no manual focus is a challenge
