My friend is having a delema on what top of the line gaming compture to get. he wants this alien ware area 51 7500 ( http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Area-51_7500/area-51_7500_specs.aspx?SysCode=PC-AREA51-7500-R1&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT )its around $5,000. i went to my trusty TigerDirect and found him this one ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1509046&CatId=0 )i know it doesnt have the speakers and monitor there but i added the same ones from the alienware package to this^^^. my total came up to $3,094. so Which one is better for gaming.
p.s. i knwo the alienware package have the Nvidia SLi 7800's in them, but really who needs to video cards in there machine at once?LOL
as that would save you a crap load of money, but i would, usually not, pick the alienware for the warranty, the 7800 sli and well, i'd just rather spend my money there.
but, he should really think about building it himself as that will save him money and he can pick components piece by piece.
konny
alienware warranty is crap... if you get a good computer, you dont need it, but when you get a t**d they weasel their way out of responsibility... u can fix your computer for less on your own n not waste time with their 1st grade tech supposrt "is the power plugged in?"
Go to newegg.com or the Tirgerdircect site and price out pc and build it yourself. you can save a lot of $$$$$ and have a great PC. John
the performance would be amazingly fast compared to a single video card
so don't laugh at that as a stupid idea
the pair of cards render an image together giving you better framerates, higher anti-aliasing options, and smoother gameplay
also
build it yourself
alienware is a horrible company, and i'd never buy a system from tigerdirect
just build it by hand
takes 2 or 3 hours
and I bet you could have something comparable to that $5000 Alienware built for...hmmm, off the top of my head i'd be tempted to say $2500
50% savings
+ it's shipped faster
+ you get the case you want
+ you don't have to mail it back to them (at your expense) to have work done
+ you learn some stuff
+ you save $2500
I just recently purchased a new computer and I was considering Alienware. I saved myself about $400 by having another company build it for me (Monarch Computers). Shop around. If youre set on Alienware, then get that. For a computer at that price, you must be completely happy with it. I would look at ABS and ibuypower, and at that price, Voodoo.
abs and ibuypower
your out of their league at this point
VoodooPC would be a good consideration if you want to spend $10k+
but seirously, build it yourself (haivng monarch build it does not constitute building it yourself)
