I know to everybody who reads this, the patch sounds like Vaporware, but it isn't, amazingly enough. This is a real patch that fixes quote "It fixes some known security issues we have been informed about with service
pack 2 and then .net framework. I have included that file into this email for you to use should you need to." Linksys US has no idea it exists, so I e-mailed support.uk@linksys.com and they sent me the file via an e-mail attachment which looks as if they fixed the .Net issue as the Media Folder Manager now works successfully.
can you send a copy to lou.piazza@comcast.net?
thanks
Richard,
If you have the "WMA11B Service Pack 2.exe" file Linksys sent you, would you mind sharing it with all these folks who need it?
The .exe is real, I just called to get it and it works. I had to uninstall EVERYTHING, even .NET Framework and start over, but it works now. Call Tech support and ask for the fix, i thinkg it;s called ''WMA 11B Service Pack2.EXE and coms in a zip file.
I contacted customer support by email, and they denied any knowledge!
Im desperate....call me Dan if you like.
I contacted linksys in the UK. They sent me a zip file containing the fix!
US linksys was useless, I have to add.
I called Linksys and they didnt or wouldnt give me this patch is there any way you would be so kind as to email it to me @ dnbat@cox.net?
A gentleman from the UK was kind enough to forward this UK Linksys fix to me and it works great now. I must All other attempts from Linksys were useless and wasted 5 hours of my time. They even denied such a file existed.
Thanks Pete!!!!
Can you (or someone) send my WMA11B SP2 file please - russell@ehunsburyit.co.uk
I'd like it too. Can I get a copy from you?
After trapsing around Linksys' FTP server, I cannot find the file everyone wants. However I did find the files associated with the Dot Net fix at:
http://www.linksys.com/international/driver.asp?coid=15&intdlid=11
I did the Don Net fix and it seem to work under Win2K and XP.
Cheers,
BuBu
I'd like the file too please.
Thanks
.NET 1.0 SP2 is compatible with WMA11b. SP3 is not, nor is .NET 1.1. I asked Linksys for their plans to upgrade to .NET 1.1. They have none as of today.
I wanted to through my hat in the ring...
After reading all these wonderful previous posts, I wanted to say that my WMA11B works, too!
1. Installed SP2
2. Enabled Firewall
3. Installed all Windows Updates (except .NET)
4. Uninstalled all Windows .NET (had 1.1 installed)
5. Rebooted
6. Installed Adapter Utility (thereby reinstalling a Linksys version of .NET)
7. Added all 10 .exe files in c:\Program Files\Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter\bin to firewall exceptions list
8. Media Folder Manager opened and was able to add folders.
The only problem is that I'm unable to add some of my music folders, while my smaller music folder and large pictures folder was added without a problem... Still working on that one.
