hello
this week I want to purchase a notebook but I havent decided which one to buy.I want a very good laptop price is not very important. Also it must have good features and good looking. What model should I buy???Thank you
Your specs are wide open. As such, get the one you like.

If you happened to decide what specs you prefered, feel free to examine the physical condition of the laptop yourself.
Years ago, I bought this Compaq 700 without knowing that it has problems of overheating and cracking of hinges and LCD casing. What made me buy it is because of the color quality and the sound which are impressive. So, when you are in the store, feel the bottom of the machine to see how hot it gets.
There are some laptops that sucks air like Hoover. This is the main reason why motherboard and CPU get fried because of the accumulation of dust inside. Averatec has this problem. I returned it in exchange for Compaq R4000 which I haven't encountered major problem in three months of use.
Make sure the keyboard is realiable. Should not go like thissssssssssss with one strokeeeeeeee of a lettter. Appppppple Ibooooooooook has this problem.
Make sure it doesn't make scary strange sounds something like electrical short circuit inside the laptop. you can do this simply by rebooting the system.
Test the hinges. Simply move the cover up and down. See if it is tight or loose.
Easy to upgrade! All upgradable parts like memory, hard drive and cpu should be accessible by the bottom of the laptop. Not by the keyboard. HP (N5440) has this problem. It's not easy to upggrage.
I havent decided which one to buy. What do you reccomend?
1-)Alienware MJ-12M 7700
2-)Toshiba Qosmio G15-AV501
3-)Acer Ferrari 4000
4-)Dell Inspiration XPS GEN2
Alienware is widely noted about their lack of service issues. It appears that each person has to fight to get it fixed. Passed.
Toshiba had a bout with a static discharge issue this year so I write "avoid til 2006." Your choice but I won't buy.
As the remaining units, those are fine but I'd be hard pressed to pick it over a Compaq v2312us at 1/2 the price. If you need more gaming power try the r4000 with the ATI video card.

I have made some research about these models but I havent decided which one to buy. What do you recommend?

3-)Acer Ferrari 4000

If I were you , I'll go for Dell XPS. Looks nice. Gaming monster. Any computer shop would love to service your machine. Okey, just leave it to us and well see what the problem is. Then, you will be presented with bills they "allegely" spent. Kiss your laptop goodbye, then.
Alienware? No service center in Canada. I won't even think buying this one.
You can find used Qosmio at ebay and local ads. I wonder why people re-selling this laptop. This one too, any technicians would love to get hold of this.
Never had Acer before. Actaully, I never seen one, any model, in person before until now.
I'll stick to my Compaq R4000. Costs less than twice as much any of the above. Runs any games too. Just give it right TLC and won't get into the hands of technicians.
this is the one i would have bought right now if i hadnt LOST all my money on this AW that wont run....
I'd suggest the HP compaq models over the dells. HP/Compaq have lesser problems than the Dells and are good at service too. I own an R4000 and absolutely love it. lovely performer for the money i paid.
