took my laptop to work recently and had to buy a new cable from wall to computer before it connected properly (old cable was shot I guess). It worked fine for a couple of days and today it has the red X thru the local network connection icon and says network cable is unplugged. I have unplugged and replugged all cables several times and rebooted computer a few times but it won't connect. IT at my work (a university) is useless. What could I be overlooking? The cable is new and the connections are solid....any advice on this? Thanks
haveyou tried another known good cable?
Just a thought, but have you tried connecting to a jack at a different location?
thanks for the suggestions.....IT guy came over and said the wall jack was getting a very weak signal and later they called and said they had reset something at the server....anyway, voila! I'm Googling.
