Are you saying that you only have your pictures on your hardrive and NOT disc? Also, are you asking whether you should transfer them to disc ONLY?

If these are important files, then you should be making backups anyway to disc, with the originals on the hardrive. If you're looking to transfer to disc to free up hardrive space, then you should make a backup to more than one disc, again if they are important files.

You'll never fully realize the benefit of having backups until your originals become toast by whatever unforseen circumstances.
