Networking Problem

by chestertb - 8/3/05 12:18 AM

Hello,

I'm trying to set up a home network.

I have a desktop running XP Pro (Call it XPD) and a Laptop/Tablet running XP Tablet (call it XPT).

From XPD, I can access all of the files in shared folders on XPT, but from XPT, I can see the shared folders on XPD but can't open them, even though they're shared, with permission set at "Everyone".

For instance, from XPT, I can see the D drive on XPD. If I double click on it, it will open the drive, and I can see all the files in the root directory of D.

However, I can't open any folder or any file. I get an error saying I do not have permission to use this network resource... Access id denied.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
CTB

Have you gone and made the necessary configurations for the Windows firewall to allow file and printer sharing?
