I have a dell Axim X30 and a pharos Bluetooth GPS receiver. The GPS receiver came with Ostia mapping software which I really don't like. Anyone have recommendations on other good GPS mapping Software.
Thanks
Personally, I couldn't live without Mapopolis, an excellent GPS program for both the PocketPC/WindowsMobile and Palm operating systems. Their software is free, and compatible with most GPS systems. Then you can download detailed maps for the United States (including US territories, such as the Virgin Islands), major Canadian cities, and most of western Europe. Each map is based on a certain county or region, and includes marked locations such as gas stations, hotels, restraunts, etc, geared for the out-of-towner. And, of course, you can insert your own destination address. The software will let you choose which counties you want to load, and they're put together into one seemless map.
Each country map is sold individually (usless you purchase a regional MapPack), and is available for a trial download. You may use the full-featured map for 14 days after you install it on your PDA, and afterwards will refuse to load unless you purchase it. Personally, I just download the trial maps to my Axim and use them while I'm on a trip...since I rarely go anywhere for more than two weeks, I never have to buy them! Hard to beat a deal like that!
Hope this helps,
John
