I am interested in just getting rid of the dish equipment and getting my original activation fee back. I had the equipment installed on May 27 by Star Satellite LLC, have on my contract that I should be getting VOOM and a DVR and didn't get either. We called the day of installation and about 10 times after that and never received a return call until June 4. Now they are telling me that because I didn't call within three days that I have to pay an $80 service fee to have DVR installed on my HD TV. Not only that, but the manager for Star is the most abusive sale person that I have ever dealt with. I would like to cancel, but am worried about the $300 cancellation fee. What rights do I have here?
Hello, seems as though you got screwed, but what was the reception like ?
The company as a whole, must have a real problem with labor, as my union;s magazine
had DISH Net as a company to NOT patronise.
I have had my own install of DirecTv for years.
You will be abused by Direct TV. I believe Direct TV is run by Satan himself.
Well, I guess because I installed my system myself, maybe, I do not have the "install" problems so many folks have had, but as to having to deal with SATAN,
oh well, maybe when I relocate.
I am a Physician in the midwest, and rely alot on my dish network. I am doing research. I am currently working in the midwest in a group also.
I am quite disappointed with dish network. They insulted me, and laughed at the problem that I had with the dish network.
Recently they added new cards, and now the systems are not operational. Instead of offering to fix the problems, they offered that I pay 35 dollars to a technician, who will come out in two weeks. Wow talk about service, I pay almost 260 dollars a month for their worthless service.
I am most of all disappointed with the manner in which they treated me, at
1-800-333-DISH
The economy is tough, I would figure that they would work harder to hang on to business that they have, and try and keep their customers happy. They are jerkoffs that do not deserve anybody's business.
Their customer service does not give a **** it has been outsource to Paki land after 1700est until 0800est. But Osoma is going to save us from the Evils of Corporate America Outsourcing to 3rd world under developed countries. Its the modern day 5 loves for 5,000

If you have any other anti-dish links I can post, that will be great too.
Shortly after I had Dish Netowrk installed, I found out about PVR's, however, I could not upgrade because I had not been a customer "long enough". So I had to get some PVR's through my son's account. Later I purchased a HDYV and did get an upgrade to HD. There were only about 5 channels and frankly I did not see that much improvement to pay extra for these channels. Finally, I ask if I could trade the HD receiver for a PVR and they said NO. Well, I "dumped the Dish" and went to DirectTV. Now I have several TiVo's and I will never go back to Dish's PVR system.
Yes, they suck..I recently cancelled my service, but they are refusing to issue back a refund..always make the same excuse that their system is not updated. I have been calling them for 4 days in a row..
We asked them to cancel the end of the month but the guy cancelled it immediately..what a pain..
DISH NETWORK SUCKS. Please don't use them..They have the worst customer service you can ever imagine..
I feel you...I tried to cancel back in Apri and continued to call and email through July. Finally on July 1 I called and told them that they could shove their "service" and that I would not pay them a cent. They transferred me to the cancellation department where I was on hold for almost an hour before I hung up. Last week I got a nastygram from a collection agency try to get money. I called last night and was told that my call on July 1 ended with me disconnecting while being transferred (this was in their notes) and that they were experiencing a higher than average amount of calls to the cancellation department at that time. My service was cancelled on August 21 and they billed me through that time. I'll probably end up paying them their $50 just to get them out of my hair...never doing it againg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dish Network will never give you back the 1st month billing and another half month security Deposit. They are terrible. They are charging me for 2 systems when I signed up and they said it all fell under one bill.
They will never return your money. A class Action Lawsuit will stop it, but you will not get your money even ten. It will however stop them from cheating others in the future.
That's a god thing to do.

Never get a connection from dish network. They will make us to sign a thrid party called VMC satellite.
I had a dish network connection and it was cancelled because of wrong installation from dish network. So dish net work says they will waive off the cancelaltion fee. But this VMC is saying DISH hasn't updated them so i need to send them the fee. Then again i called DIsh and now they says they don't have any control over VMC.
It is just a game between those two..
So never get a connectin from DISH network. Very poor customer support. Very tricky guys. vary bad service....Z------------.....
Your problem is you do not have the right receiver to record one program while watching a different at the same time. I had this problem before and decided to upgrade to the DISH 721 PVR.

Check out the link above, the dual tuner PVR's are the one's you should be looking at. Also the 721 model is grandfathered in under the old pricing policy so there is no $5.00 PVR fee if you get this model. I have it and think its great.
