NEC Z1 case removal

by phlame - 7/11/05 4:22 PM

I am trying to remove the case of the NEC Z1 to upgrade the processor. Naturally, there are no instructions for for this in the manual or online that I can find...there is little or no support for it. If anyone has removed the case, I would appreciate any direction or help you can give me.

Thanks,

Don't know if this will help, but...

...electronics makers usually have little arrows pointing to the screws that need to be removed for access, like my Asus laptop. That's a dead giveaway. Post a link w/ a picture and we'll figure it out.

NEC what?

I feel for ya, I tried some googling and hardly got anything worthwhile. As for the NEC support website, geeeezzz, what a waste.

By experience, find any screws on back and remove only if as a guess. Some covers are "tang(tongue)&grove" they match into each other and snap or press fit into one another. If a small slot is present, see if applying pressure with tool or fingers depresses enough to unsnap, work it. One end may screw down and then lift to reveal a tang&groove on corresponding side, lift and separate. Use common sense as once revealed, you see what logic went into putting it together. Also, a decal cover could be hiding a hidden screw, a warranty seal or such , depicts work done outside of warranty channels, proceed if no warranty.

The monitor can be removed by depressing the clips and pulling upwards. You can then get inside the case.

Phred

Yes, I removed the monitor, but I could not find a way to get inside the case. Can you describe how to do that...I'd be forever grateful! <G>
