I have used Tracphone for over 2 years. I think it's the most cost effective.
All prepaids have the downside that you can lose your phone number if you run out of minutes, but I think Tracphone has a way to prevent it for a fee. I just make sure to stay up with it.
They have Nokia and Motorola phones, available. I suggest you ask around, and find out if there are problems with receiving/transmission in your area on either brand before you spend money.
