iPod, RealPlayer and Protected WMA Files Question

by byoung210 - 7/17/05 12:43 PM

according to RealPlayers customer support site you can use RealPlayer to transfer protected WMA files over to an iPod. it will transfer it for you to AAC for play on the iPod. i have no problems with non protected files. but i can't seem to get it to convert protected WMA files. i just get 'unsupported media type'. does any one know how to fix this?

No, not really

They're "protected" WMA files. The idea is that you're not supposed to be able to do anything with them.

If I told you any way to get around the protection, I would be violating the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.

Um, yeah, so I bought 3 songs from Walmart without realizing that they couldn't be put on my iPod. My pride suffering more than my wallet, but is there no way to fix this?

Use a player other than the I-Pod. There are players out there, such as those made by iRiver, which can play protected WMA files.

Frankly I don't know how in Hell you got the idea that you can buy an Apple device and play Microsoft music on it.

At least, you could have totally copped out and bought Apple songs to play on your Apple device.

Good luck and happy shopping. I'm not breaking the law for you, certainly not when there's no need.
