I hope it's OK now for you. Those messages probably automatically generated when you opened Outlook Express. Give it some time and keep us posted but it is looking good from here.
.
I went into Outlook Express to see if anything was there, and lo and behold, there was a message from Microsoft welcoming me To IE6. There was also one welcoming me to IE5.5, when I upgraded to that.
As I said, I don't use Outlook Express, so would never think messages could end up in there.
Outlook Express, or any mailer for that matter, would not download mail from a support server until it is used -- both the mail server or the program -- and the program's download option to do so has been set (Tools, Options, and on the General tab in the section titled "Send / Receive Messages", clear the box labeled Send and receive messages at startup) to circumvent Outlook Express from receiving mail unless you click the manual option to do so.
I have come across the best antivirus program that I have seen in years....outworks norton...mcafee..panda....
It has a popup stopper...and it updates everytime you go on line. It has found and repaired virus's no other program has found.

Started getting blue screens so decided to do some maintenance. Started running Norton Utilities and a Virus screen popped up from AVG. I had the latest definitions, so rebooted to safe mode and tested with zero results.
Went online and ran Trend Virus program, again, no virus.
I ran CW Shredder, Stinger, and a couple of others I have. No luck.
Tried scanreg /restore and scanreg /fix, etc. Still got blue screens. I finally applied a Ghost image I made months ago and had no problem, so downloaded the newest version of AVG.
Ghosted back to Saturdays image and uninstalled the old AVG and installed the new one.
I had received bluescreens with ''VXD AVGCORE(0)'' and ''VXD VWIN32(05)'' problems. There were a few others, but I didn't record them.
Ran all the AV tests, plus The Cleaner, but nothing was found.
My system has been running like a charm ever since.
My next step would have been to run HiJack This and submit it, but wasn't necessary. I still don't know where the problem originated, but using scanreg /restore didn't fix anything, so it wasn't a registry problem.
I'm on Win98SE with all the good stuff in place and this system is well maintained, but one slipped through. I use Mozilla 1.7.8 and never use IE, except for necessary updates, Outlook Express or any other insecure programs I've read about here. I use AVG and Zonealarm as well.
At least it's fixed until the next time.
Mel. 'Wonder what's cookin'? This certainly puts us through a lot of work and frustration.
Roddy. Thanks for all your help. I, too, hope that is the end of it. If it isn't, you can be darn sure I'll be back.
