No joke, my computer the second in the home used to be on wireless now by cable hoping to solve the problem but did not. Everysecond disconnects and message says network cable disconnected and immediatly reconects off course never long enough to do anything. We have high speed and a linsys router with a netgear ethernet card but since the cable or wireless works about the same then my guess is the ethernet card is fine, by the way the home computer connection works fine.
I have little to work with but if I was to try anything...
1. Run WINSOCKXPFIX and see if it helps.
2. No Spyware. No Adware. Wipe them all out.

It's very difficult to understand from your explanation what the situation is. Was your second computer ever hooked up wirelessly to the router and did it connect? Is it just not connecting via the ethernet cable? The on-and-off connection you are describing might suggest you have a bad port on the router and you should try connecting the cable to another.
I will try and clarify. The slave computer runs on Windows 2000 and was first on wireless, now it is on a wire but the problem of constant disconecting is the same. I will try to see if a different plug into the router makes any difference, hubby never thought of that. I will update if the problem is solved.
