RCA Lyra

by tv3tek - 7/13/05 8:32 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I chose the RCA Lyra because it can play the MP3pro format, which gives greater fidelity to files.
You just can't beat the quality of MP3pro.

Portable hard-drived based MP3 Player

by tankavizion - 7/13/05 8:57 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I have the Creative Zen Micro 5GB Mp3 Player. I totally love it! I tried the DELL pocket DJ and it sucked! I mean totally! Their product would not function properly with my notebook for unexplained reasons and their Tech Support and Customer Service departments were condescending sarcastic and rude. I would never reccomend them to anyone. Once burned twice shy! Creative rocks I love this little handy device it is a blessing to technically challenged individuals like myself. I am pleased and was impressed by the respect shown by customer service. As far as durability and quality for Zen Micro get it, you won't regret it!

My MP3 Player

by jere28 - 7/13/05 9:03 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I have two from creative JB3 and Nomad Zen. I rejected the iPod for two reasons: No replaceable battery and poor Classical music coverage. Both of Creative plays have both features

Don't Need One

by CrisBurgess - 7/13/05 9:14 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Why would I want an MP3 player and have to pay for all my music (decent music anyway) over the internet when I have a CD collection of over 300 CDs?

A portable CD player and a 'CD-Wallet' that holds 50 CDs is really not that big to carry around. No recording to worry about either.

What's an MP3?

by cdanblack - 7/13/05 10:04 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

What's an MP3?

OK for real. I had a Diamond Rio 64MB (if I remember right) before most of you knew what an MP3 was. I was enjoying downloading music pre-napster era. The Rio was a great gadget, that definetly had its flaws. (printer port connection, slow...I mean slow transfer, etc etc)

2 years later I picked up a 20GB Creative Nomad 3--the iPod had just came out, but it was pricey--I settled on the lower priced, large capacity Nomad. That was one bulky thing. It did well, and actually my wife still loves it. One thing you can say is that syncing using Creative's Play center/media source is HORRIBLE.

Against everything PC inside me, I decided to pick up the 30GB Ipod photo when the priced dropped earlier this year...all I can say is there is nothing better. All of you out there trying to decide between a creative or a Ipod...please don't make the mistake I did with the 1G Ipod. You will not be sorry.

The player is sleek. The interface couldn't be easier to use. Although there are complaints for lack of built in features, I think that far outweighed by the array of compatible accesories. (try that w/ creative)Plus you score double with iTunes. I'm not a mac lover, but I'm affraid if I keep loving my Ipod like I am I might have to convert to the dark side.

I dare any of you to find someone that has and Ipod who can say they wished they had gotten something else.

Ipod>anything else

It depends !

At work whenever I have time to rest I use my Sony Ericsson P910i with a 1Gb memory stick duo that gives huge quantity of storage....

Now when it is time to go jogging nothing beats my 40Gb iPod! It's the king of MP3 players... Without a doubt!

You forgot to list MY MP Player Sony Net MD

by miwi98 - 7/13/05 11:28 AM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I guess Sony's NetMD players are not popular, but I think it is great if you do not want a "flash player" because you have to remove songs you do not want in order to replace them with what you want. The hard drive MP3 Player is somewhat costly, thank the heavens its price is dropping. The Net MD by Sony is the one in between, using mini disc and you can record your "mood" music on them and if you want to switch, just pop the disc out and put in another and it is small too.
Thanks

I don't need no stinkin' music, gringo

by MrMark - 7/13/05 1:28 PM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Why do people have to be constantly bombarded by noise? Is it because they are afraid of thinking? Or maybe they don't know how to and the silence without noise is deafening!!!

Rio Carbon 5G

by chickee - 7/13/05 3:21 PM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I bought myself a Rio Carbon, not only because it's battery lasts longer than that of an iPod Mini, but because of the price.

My MP3 player has 5G compared to the 4G iPod, and my MP3 player cost me 100$ less!

iPod is overpriced, and overrated.

by rokweiller - 7/13/05 4:20 PM In reply to: What type of device do you use as a portable MP3 player? by Marc Bennett Moderator

This is the best deal out there. It has a 4GB micro hard drive. The playback quality is the best I have had yet. This is my third MP3 player. For the money, get this one.
