Have Creative Zen NX 30GB
Purchased mid 2003
Transfer software buggy, but player reliable.
Have 7300 selections on drive still have a little space left over.
5GB for $190.00, can't beat it.
Got this for $220.00 on Dell Website. Incredible deal when other less than perfect one cost up to $150 more for same HD Size. Cannot beat ease of use, I can use virtually any music Software for it, Drag and Drop in Windows explorer is a definite plus!
Better than ANY MP3 "player"!
a good ipod mini alternative
I have an iPod Photo 60GB which I am adding music to as I write this. I love it mainly because of the size of the hard drive. I had a Dell Jukebox which was 20GB and I had/have no complaints about it except I filled it up. My daughter now uses it.
The Dell had think I liked that the iPod doesn't and visa versa. I do like the click wheel on the iPod, very easy to use and get around. I am approaching the 10,000 song mark. I think they will be around for along time. I like that you can have a small color picture of the CD cover (or any other picture you'd like) while the song is playing. I have not used the photo part yet and don't plan too. I bought it mainly for the 60 GB capacity
God Bless,
Mike
I bought the 60GB iPod Photo also, and my only complaint is that I bought 3 weeks before they unbundled it and dropped the price by $150. Other than that, I've been very happy with it, and do use it with photos -- it was great being able to store pics that I imported from iPhoto to it and could instantly show pictures of a vacation.
That all being said, I have minor complaints. One is with the headset and on-wire controls. The cord (unless you tie it off like I have) is WAY long and gets tangled quickly. And I wish the quality of the headset was just a bit better, though it's basically "ok".
I had an original 20GB Archos dating back to around 2001, which died at the end of '03. Replaced it with a 40GB Creative Zen, which was nice but the navigation and interface was horrible, and the included software for sync'ing was cheesy. This took me into a 40GB iPod last year and subsequently the 60GB photo this year. Having now had 2 of them, I wouldn't recommend anything else, and I plan on using mine for a long time to come. Anything that has become such a de-facto standard should cause others to wonder why they didn't make their devices as extensible and user-friendly as the iPod. It's a nice device that offers a lot of flexibility.
As a Linux user I've become very pleased with XMMS. It has all of the features I require in a player and has been very stable. I especially like the cross-fading plugin.
I not only use this player to listen to my own mixes, but I use it for theatrical performances. We are able to mix all of our music and sound effects to run on multiple players simultaneously.
The player I use second most often is mplayer, which also does video.
Title says it all
Dual CompactFlash, dual SD, great utility, good sound and video.
I purchased a 128mb flash player with SD slot for around £40 a year or so ago and it is excellent value for the money (around $70 i think). I also have a 256mb and 512mb SD cards, which gives me a total of around 14 hours of music.
I am going to purchase an iPod next year (see what they develop)to fit my growing music collection on to.
5GB for $190.00, can't beat it.
dell dj fell short when i tried it out. the navigation was difficult and the interface was confusing plus i had to use another company's product to load music on it, which again was difficult and yet another confusing interface in addition to the player. sure, 5gb for $190 sounds good but what you have to go through (everytime you use it) just to save a few bucks once (at time of purchase), isn't worth it to me. i would gladly pay an extra $10 - $50 to ensure a seamless experience (everytime i used it).
Have only had it for a month but it has worked great. Holds tons of music in both mp3 and wma formats and I have no problem naviagating it. Since I bought this from someone else who had never set it up, I basically got a new DJ20 plus lots of accessories for 175 dollars.
I have had my DJ20 for about a year, and like it... I don't find it difficult to navigate and it works well, for a great price. Why buy an iPod and be forced to use iTunes when you can get something that works just as well for half the price... Plus, my DJ20 is the Gen 1, the larger one, and you can only buy the Gen 2 from Dell, a smaller sleeker and more powerful device. I even took it overseas with me and had no problems whatsoever! Great deal and a great product!!!! Highly recomended!
